An event that since 2016 has stimulated debate on architecture in relation to the social and economic transformations of the territory that shape contemporary society.

Handle with care" represents a timely invitation to reflect on the urgency of a responsible architecture centred on care – one that repairs, maintains and regenerates through attuned listening to places and to the pre-existing, and through community engagement. A complex alternative to the easier path of demolition and construction, hallmarks of an architecture that consumes territory and resources.

"Building, demolishing, building again… that is easy. But caring for things, making them last, keeping them alive, repairing them. That is a difficult task. You have to observe, listen, pay attention. Study, understand. Recognise what exists, even if it’s fragile, even if it’s not perfect. You need allies. It’s a task for those who know from experience the consequences of destruction, who know the price of maintenance, who know a thing of beauty is a joy forever. If you can handle it, caring is power."

A collective walk through Bellinzona, a city in transformation, from industrial fringes to public spaces and new housing hubs. Seven stops, animated by speakers, to rediscover the territory with care at the centre of the gaze.

246 proposals received, 10 projects selected: here are the results of the Call for Action for the 6ᵗʰ biennale svizzera del territorio. The installations will be presented in the park of Villa Saroli from 1 to 3 October and will remain on display until 28 November 2026.
